I have been experiencing pain in the muscles of my upper arms, between the shoulder and the elbow, and to a lesser extent in the thighs. Could this be a part of RA? Do other people experience this. I mentioned it to the GP yesterday and she suggested it might be fibromyalgia. I don't think it fits with the 'tender points' I've seen on diagrams of fibromyaligia....and anyway I haven't got the resources to deal with another condition, so I am hoping people will tell me it's common with RA. I am seeing the consultant on the 23rd but I like to get opinions from people with RA too. Naomi x.

Hi Naomi

I have always had pain in my upper arm and it was actually the first place that I experienced pain when the RA started. I have tried to research this, but haven t got very far Sad I wondered if I had fibromyalgia at one point but pretty sure I haven t, just another area of inflammation I think, I have mentioned it to my consultant without much response. Sorry I can t help a bit more on this point.

Hello there

Yes I get pains in my arms like you, also anywhere. At the mo I am experiencing a horrid pain under my left shoulder
blade which appears to go through to my left breast. . . .

Thank you for the replies everyone. I suppose it is part and parcel of RA. Feel quite reassured hearing that this is common but obviously I wouldn't wish it on any one. Best wishes from Naomi.

Hi Naomi

I have had this too and last week had exactly the same as Rose.

Before i was diagnosed i was told i had fibromylagia. So it sounds like it's all part of the RA.

Love Shirley x
